An outdoors lounge patio is situated at the finish line, and serves drinks and food during live racing. A food court serves both the casino and the track for those who want to grab a quick bite and not miss out on any of the action. Alcohol as well as daily specials are on offer. The Woodbine Club is a member’s only elite club that has a long history and can be joined by anyone. Many owners, trainers and jockeys both past and present are members.
Planned Expansion of the Woodbine Racetrack Casino
A massive expansion is planned for the Woodbine Racetrack Casino. Construction is set to begin in 2017 and scheduled to be finished by 2019. The 165 000 square foot expansion will include a whole new gaming area that will be much broader than the stand alone box casino that is currently all that is on offer. The new casino will include many different kinds of live table games, as well as regular promotions and tournaments. More slots and video poker machines will of course be introduced, including some progressives. The expansion was approved 25 to 19 by the city council as it will not only provide numerous jobs but also attract new people and thus enterprise to the area. A 5000 seat concert hall is also proposed for the new casino, and may well be the first thing built in the planned expansion. The concert hall will host international live acts such as Boyz II Men and will provide people with a place to get out and socialise in downtown Toronto. New restaurants and bars will also open, adding more jobs and activity to the area.
